There are some new studies out showing new stats on how damaging pesticides and even I was shocked. I think most of us know that they're bad for us but it's still a bit scary seeing specifics on what they do to our brains (actually lowering our IQ for one!) Buying all organic gets a bit spenny but if we at least buy most of the 'Dirty Dozen' organic or grow some of the easier ones ourselves then it can make a big difference 🌱
The Dirty Dozen (highest in pesticides, best to buy organic)
8. Sweet bell peppers
A good rule of thumb is: If you eat the skin make sure it is organic or sprayfree!
The Clean 15 (lowest in toxic pesticides, generally safe to buy non organic)
2. Sweet corn
13. Sweet potatoes
Quick tip: To reduce pesticide/herbicide residue on vegetables or fruit cover with water and ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar and soak for 10mins. Drain and then dry. Organic foods are higher in nutrients though, so it's still best to buy them when you can.
