Mango Turmeric Smoothie Bowl

I put together this smoothie bowl specifically for what I felt I needed after being overseas for a week - it's like delicious medicine!

I'm a firm believer in eating as many of your vitamins as you can, rather than using artificial supplements that you're probably just going to pee out anyway. When you get them in food form, they're much more likely to actually absorb.

Turmeric is super anti inflammatory. I add this to most of my smoothies and juices because the less inflamed your body is the less susceptible you are to diseases and illnesses - so get it in ya! I prefer to buy fresh turmeric root, you should be able to find this at most health food stores. If  not, find a good quality turmeric powder.  

I also added a splash of flaxseed oil, because turmeric is fat soluble - meaning it doesn't absorb properly without fat. Another thing that increases the bioavailability of turmeric is black pepper, so the ideal combination is to have all three in one dish.


  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 telegraph cucumber
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds 
  • 2/3 cup water (more or less depending on how thick you like it)
  • 1/3 cup rawnola - I used Cathedral Cove Raw Paleo Super Cereal 
  • 1 sliced green kiwi
  • 1/4 cup crushed frozen raspberries 

Blend together the mango, banana, cucumber, chia seeds and water in a high powered blender for 1 minute then pour into bowls. Top with the rawnola, kiwi and raspberries.
